9 Weeks

9 Weeks!!! WOW I can’t believe I’m 9 weeks along!

Here is a look at where the baby’s development is.  (Just to clarify we don’t know the sex of the baby yet, the quote below just uses ‘she’.)

Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She’s starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they’ll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby’s heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic “tail” is completely gone. Your baby’s organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won’t be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won’t open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby’s basic physiology is in place, she’s poised for rapid weight gain.

Quick recap of the last few weeks…
Week 6 – Well morning sickness kicked in and seemed to hit me every other day and eased up in the evenings.  I noticed after I would eat is when I would get that queasy feeling.

Week 7 – Morning sickness turned into all day or what I like to call Pregnancy Sickness.  Because I was sick ALL day and night!  I decided to stop taking my prenatal, but continue the B6 and Folic Acid which really helped.  I was also able to get some Zofran from my Doctor however, it really just takes the edge off for me so I don’t use it too often.  Sleeping is, I have found the best medicine!  -Yes, I know shocking comment from me! 🙂

Week 8 – Came down with an awesome upper respiratory infection.  Landing me some antibiotics, a week in bed and a steady flow of Tylenol and Benadryl.  I think the cold/infection gave me a reprieve from Preg sickness untill it broke on Friday evening because on Saturday, I couldn’t keep anything I ate down.  And Sunday was a rough day too.

I am going to end this post raving about the most awesome husband in the world.

  1. I CAN NOT cook the poor guy a real dinner right now.
  2. I also can’t go to the grocery store because of all the overwhelming smells, so he’s been grocery shopping too.
  3. I am typically stretched out on the couch under a blanket unable to do anything but sleep all weekend.
  4. He also has been doing the laundry for me.

And even though the poor guy has nothing really “exciting” to come home too, he always walks through the door with the biggest smile and hug for me.  I just love him so much!  He truly is so selfless and loving and takes such good care of me.  I can’t wait till I’m feeling better.  I love you dear husband, you are truly God’s gift to me and you are going to make the best daddy. 🙂
